You guys did great

Seriously, all of them were awesome. I just love watching claymation. It gets me thinking about the old days when I used to stay home and watch Gumby before running to elementary school.

I especially liked the one with the chair and table and cake. That was was really adorable and I totally digged the camera moving along with the action.

Great job guys.

Nice backgrounds...

The way you have all the action and the rotating 3D backgrounds is seamless. Really really nice.

What methods did you use for the integration of your character animations and the moving backgrounds without having it chug? Seriously, I would love to know.

This is a great flash and with wonderful pacing. And the Apocalyptica music was a great choice too. :D

Lovely

A great show as to how wondeful the old style of animating can be. And to show just how much work it takes. I loved this on DA, I love it here.

Great great job.

Very nice

This was a wonderful animation. Very professionaly done, I could really see this being on tv somewhere.

The story was very cute and funny, I felt sorry for Throwback when he had to clean up after Kirby. That was really funny though.

All in all this was an awesome flash and very well done. Good job.

(p.s. I noticed that your flash swf file is larger than 5.MB How did you get newgrounds to allow you to submit such a large file? Did you contact them and asked for permission?)

....

that's actually a really cute start and i like it...more than I think I should. (perhaps I am to tired.)

but it would be awesome to see you actually do something more with this character and with some more crazy stuff happening. Seriously, it'd be awesome.

hahaha..

that was amazing. :D

Hearing... well... reading this from someone who won an award with only two submitted entries... what else can I say if it isn't it means something to me ? :)
Thanks for the review!

Good start...

But just as someone said before, more frames would have been better to use when animating some of the fight. Also with the running, you could get away with the very quick segments of the characters running toward the camera, but you may have wanted to go and find another sound file to use for that. For them to be running on grass and dirt the footsteps sounded way to high and sharp, not dull and bass like they would have in such an environment. All the other sfx were very well placed and well done. You have a great ear for placing everything in the right spot.

Also in how the vampire guy kills the bad guy, the ending shot with him looking all samurai and what not and then having the bad guy be cut in half... that's kinda cliche'. I think it would have been better if you had your good guy bury his blade into the top of the bad guys head since he was above him, AND then bring his blade down the back of the bad guys head to the base of the skull and twist and pop off the bad guys head. I mean, he was a bad vampire right? Take of the head. That always always works. Plus it would have been really cool instead of the same old shot after the fact and then him being all cool and stuff.

Also on another note, using songs with lyrics can usually work against what your trying to do. I've done that and its the reason why my one animation "With a Smile" didn't get into a certain art festival. Its really better to use music without lyrics so your animation is all the viewer will pay any attention too, instead of trying to figure out what the song is saying.

Oh, and maybe more dynamic camera angles like when the one good guy cut the bad guys face... It would have been really cool to see a down shot of that with the sword swishing up toward the camera.

Other than that this is pretty cool for a practice play time thing, and it shows that you do have potential to go even farther. Just don't let your animations style be defined of what you've already seen. Cause everyone else has already seen that too... I hope this helps and I hope to see more from you, and not just practice runs. :)

thanks for taking the time to watch and review my animation. very much appreciated!

Just by the fact alone--

That you animated this old school and frame by frame deserves great approval. But as some people said before the sound could have been done a little better, but as for the animation it really reminded me of an old italian movie which had animation in it much like fantasia, except the orchestra were a bunch of old grannies who were chained up, and the artist was a poor dude who used to be tortured and chained up to a wall... I know I'm going to spell this wrong but the movies name is Alegro Non' Troupe (i know i murdered it.)

Still, back to your animation, it really had a silly strange storyline with great pacing, and goes to show that old school can still be just as cool as the new stuff. Great job and I congrats to your 7 month project. It turned out wonderful. :)

Thank you very much, such a great review. Yes, the sound quality did not live up to my expectations (Actually, several things didn't live up to my expectations, but this is so far well received) but what can you do, it was a cheap mic I borrowed from a freind. I've always had a great interest in classic animation, and it has been my dream to make something like this all my life. I'm glad to hear about the congatulations on the 7 months part, it was such a long and hard project, and I came close to giving up several times. Glad I didn't :)

Classical music...

What an awesome choice. This flash is just wonderful and imaginative. I love the style of it and the strange going ons. The colors are wonderful and the creatures adorable. What a spiffy animation.

Nice art....

But I would have given it a higher ranking if there was some animation here instead of moving layers. Like actually showing him getting into the car for those brief seconds, or just taking the wallet out of his back pocket. Maybe even seeing his hands move back and forth on the steering wheel. Little short animations of that maintain the quality of your stills would have been nice. Still, nice flash art.
